Located on the southern coast of Cyprus along the Mediterranean Sea, Limassol is a growing urban center with around 200,000 inhabitants. The city faces the highest
car dependency among the project partner cities, with more than 90% of all trips made by car. To alleviate this trend and promote sustainability, Limassol has developed a Sustainable Urban
Mobility Plan. Further, Limassol is listed as one of the 100 cities participating in the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities aiming to achieve climate neutrality by
2030.
Within the project, Limassol aims to implement institutional innovations and develop integrated policy mixes that support car-reducing measures to promote and increase the uptake of sustainable transportation modes.
