Fürstenwalde/Spree, with 33,000 inhabitants, is the smallest partner city in the project. Located east of Berlin, halfway to the Polish border, it functions as a commuter hub in the metropolitan region. Around 50% of trips in the city are currently made by car. In response, Fürstenwalde has launched a bicycle strategy and is developing a master plan for mobility hubs.
Within the project, the city focuses on designing and testing integrated policy mixes to foster sustainable mobility practices such as cycling. The goal is to
reduce car usage while enhancing accessibility and quality of life.
