Collegno is a city of around 50,000 inhabitants located just west of Turin in Northern Italy. Like many urban areas in the region, it experiences high car dependency – over 70% of all trips are made by car. To address this, Collegno has adopted a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and a dedicated bicycle strategy.
Within the project, the city aims to co-create a shared vision for reducing car dependency and developing a targeted mobility action plan. By engaging local stakeholders in participatory processes, Collegno seeks to build broad support for sustainable mobility measures and reclaim public space for more active, inclusive forms of transport. The project will focus especially on the regeneration of an urban area along a main street undergoing major transformations from an urban highway to a multimodal axis.
